Why do some carbs on certain hand pipes protrude out? Is there a functional reason for this?

This is all about what the blower likes.  The carb can even become a small heady section on a pipe with a wig wag protruding section or just a color that protrudes.  We feel this is also a good thing to protrude some so it is easy to find with your finger.
