How to Use the Eye Washer
- Become Familiar with where the Emergency Eye Washer is located. The Emergency Eye Washer is Located on one of the two White Sinks in the Inventory Area.
- Make sure that all of the employees know where the Emergency Eye Washer is at, you never know when you will need someone to assist you to the Eye Washer!
- If you happen to get somthing in your eye, DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE IT YOURSELF! This could cause further damage to your eye! Ask a surrounding employee to help you to the Emergency Eye Wash, and have them help you wash out your eye.
- Have a co worker help the injured worker to the Emergency Eye Washer, once at the washing station, you will need to remove the Yellow Spout covers from the Washer, you will also need to pull the little plug that reads “LF” on the front of the faucet, this will avtivate the Eye Washer and send water up through the spouts.
- Once you have pulled the “LF” Plug, gently turn on the water straight up, so it delivers luke warm water to the injured employee, you can adjust left or right to have hotter or colder depending on the employees comfort level.
- Let the employee soak their eyes for a MINIMUM of 5 minutes, this will help remove any harmful debris or chemicals.
- However, other references recommend a minimum 20-minute flushing period if the nature of the contaminant is not known. The flushing or rinsing time can be modified if the identity and properties of the chemical are known. For example:a minimum 5-minute flushing time is recommended for mildly irritating chemicals, at least 20 minutes for moderate-to-severe irritants,20 minutes for non-penetrating corrosives, and at least 60 minutes for penetrating corrosives.
- Next, you must report the accident Adam, and see if it’s an insurance matter or not. All Injury causing accidents must be reported to Adam!

How to Stock and Open Boxes of Rods
This is very important so glass does NOT get scratched
- Remove the Empty box of Rods you wish to replace, then locate your next full box of rods from the stock area RACK 3 (Refer to Picture A1). Carry the box to it’s proper location the the shelf. Make sure the measurements on the box match the numbers on the shelf. The box lable goes on the right side of the rack. Make sure the arrows on the box are pointing up, if they aren’t, you will need to spin the box until it sits correctly.

- After you have spun the box around so the arrows are pointing up, you will then cut the tape and lift open the top flap. Notice on the inner bottom flap of the box and how it has three open slots, these slots hold the locking flaps of the top portion of the box. Take a knife and cut the right and left slot and the cardboard surrounding it off of the box, while leaving the middle slot still intact with about an 1 1/2″ of carboard surrounding it (Refer to Picture B2). This will help keep the top flap locked on to the bottom flap and will help prevent any dust or debris from falling on the glass rods.

- Once you have removed the right and left portions of the bottom flap, you will throw the removed portions away. Now you will cut the plastic open on both ends of the glass. Cut down the center and then to the sides. This will allow easy removal of the glass rods from the box. Locate a permanent marker and write the size of the glass on the top and front of the box, for easy identification (Refer to Picture C3). Then, grab your glass, close the top flap, make sure the flap is locked in the slot, and return to your station!
