This can happen more so if different colors are used as they have different COEs. Other times this can happen if the weld was not done well. Other times this can happen from hitting the glass at a bad angle.
When looking at a seal, always look to see if there is a butt. If there is a butt, stay away from this piece of glass, the artist did not do their job well.
