In cannabis culture, a grinder is a small device that breaks down dried and cured cannabis buds and plant parts into small pieces. The smaller pieces make it easier to smoke marijuana when placing the herb in bowls or rolling joints.
Grinders also typically feature a kief catcher. Kief is the sticky, crystal-like substance found on the cannabis plant flowers and, to a lesser extent, its leaves. The kief contains high concentrations of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the primary cannabinoid in cannabis that is used to gain psychoactive effects, commonly referred to as a ‘high’.
