If it is clear a 4 inch is way easier. It is lighter and smaller, making it easier to handle. The larger one goes on a rig that requires more strength if not using a machine like a lathe to hold the glass. Also, the larger the glass gets the hotter it is, which makes it more difficult and more costly to make.
