Would a surfer be able to heat a normal banger /slurper by removing the heater cover and allowing the heater to warm the inside of the unit?

No, the top of the heater is not as hot as the part just below that gets orange.  Our dab dish is designed to absorb this heat and transfer it to the area that you put your dab.
