Why might someone choose a beaker style piece over a straight tube?

Durability and sturdiness are what we feel the beaker has superior.  Many times a straight tube is a bit thin at the joint weld to get the angle.  With a beaker, you get the angle built into the tube.  Also, it holds more water to make it heavier.
