Troubleshooting Guide for the Elev8R Enail PID and Coil, and the Classic Mini Enail PID and Coil
Use this guide to troubleshoot any issues with your Elev8R Enail kit or Classic Mini Enail kit, most issues can be resolved at home without any intervention from Elev8. Our Enail kits come with a Limited 90 Day Warranty which can be extended to a Limited 1 Year Warranty if the unit is registered within 90 days of receipt. If your unit is covered under warranty, we will replace any defective parts within that 1 year warranty period. Note: Elev8’s Classic Mini Enail and Elev8R Enail kits use identical PID controllers, but the Kevlar Heat Coils are slightly different and are treated as separate products even though they are also identical in function. This guide applies to both the Classic Mini Enail kit and to the Elev8R Enail kits.

Enail isn’t heating up enough:
This is most commonly an issue with the Kevlar Heat Coil. If you have another Elev8 PID unit you can test this issue at home by plugging your Kevlar Heat Coil into the second unit: if the coil will not heat up to the temperature that you set on both units then the issue is definitely with the Kevlar Heat Coil itself. If the coil works fine on the second unit then the issue is definitely with the original PID unit. You could also test this using another Kevlar Heat Coil, as you may have separate coils for an Elev8R Enail and a Classic Mini Enail. Enail PID won’t turn on:
Double check the connection with the power supply cable in the back of the PID unit. Unplug the power cable from the back of the PID unit and then plug it back in; make sure that it is fully and firmly secured in the power jack. If the PID unit still won’t turn on, try a different outlet in a different part of the house or building. This isn’t likely to be the cause of the issue but it’s helpful to check and be sure. If the PID unit does not turn on after checking the power supply cable and outlet, there may be a fault in your PID unit and/or the power supply cable itself. Enail is displaying “EEEE” on the screen when I turn it on:
This is an error message which could indicate an issue with the PID or with the Kevlar Heat Coil. If the error message is being displayed as soon as you turn the PID on, check the connection with the Kevlar Heat Coil. Most of the time this error message appears when there is no coil attached. Make sure that the coil is fully plugged in, the plug should click into position and the plug should be fully secured by the retaining clip (the silver ‘PUSH’ button). You should have to PUSH the retaining clip in order to remove the plug from the jack. If you own multiple Enail units from other manufacturers, double-check and make sure that you are using the correct coil for the Enail PID by Elev8. Enail coils often use the same type of plug but they are not universal, and coils made by other manufacturers may be wired completely differently from ours. Only use the original Kevlar Heat Coil which came with your Enail kit by Elev8.
If the error message is being displayed after the PID has already begun to heat the coil, see the next section of this guide (‘Enail is heating up too quickly…’). If you are still seeing the error message after double-checking the connection with the Kevlar Heat Coil, then there could be a fault with the coil or with the PID itself. Enail is heating up too quickly and triggers an “EEEE” error message on the PID screen:
When you turn on your Enail PID you should see the temperatures rise at a slow and steady pace. It should take about 45 seconds or more for the PID and coil to reach the desired temperature from a cold start. If the temperature rises much more quickly than expected this means that there is likely a fault in the Kevlar Heat Coil, typically when this happens you will see the temperatures rise very quickly until the PID registers the error, at which point it will display “EEEE” on the screen. This type of fault can also trip GFCI outlets (see below).
Enail is tripping a GFCI outlet or circuit breaker (ground fault circuit interrupter):
If your Enail is tripping a GFCI outlet or circuit breaker then there is likely a fault in the Kevlar Heat Coil. If the unit is plugged into a non-GFCI outlet or circuit then you will likely experience the same issue described in the above section (‘Enail is heating up too quickly…’) When functioning properly the Elev8 Enail will not trip a GFCI outlet or circuit breaker, and it will take about 45 seconds or more for the PID to reach full temperature. Enail will not hold a consistent temperature:
If you set the temperature for your Enail and it will not hold the specified temperature, Auto Tuning Mode may have been activated, if the green light above the OUT (AT) is flashing it is. To complete that process, setup the unit as if you were going to use it, once all parts are assembled, use the Up and Down arrows to set the temperature to 400 degrees. The coil will heat up to the 400 degrees and then slowly drop down again, and then rise about 400 degrees, it will continue this process for up to 10 minutes while it is attempting to calibrate the coil for the setup. Once the temperature has settled and is holding around 400 degrees, you should be able to use the Up an Down arrows on the face of the controller to set the desired temperature, and it will settle at that temperature, you do not need to press any other buttons on the controller face to set the temperature besides the Up and Down arrows. Why did the products in my cart disappear?
If items disappeared from your cart, a customer’s cart, etc., then it is likely because the items in question had some change(s) made to their product options. Unfortunately we cannot recover the cart’s previous state after this happens, you or the customer will just have to add the items to the cart again. We are so sorry, this is an unfortunate side-effect of using BigCommerce but there isn’t much we can do to prevent it as these types of changes are typically high priority for us to ensure that our products are always up to date.
